Decrease the size and lifts the breasts upward (making them perky) by removing breast tissue and skin. This may help decrease the neck and shoulder discomfort, headaches, and skin rashes.
An anchor shaped incision is used and the nipple/areola (now smaller) is moved up. Sutures are under the skin and dissolve. A drain is placed and may be removed in one week along with the sutures around the nipple/areola area. An ON-Q pain pump is used to decrease any discomfort.
Hospital or Surgery Center
Minimal to moderate and easily controlled with oral medication along with an ON-Q pain pump.
Wound care three times a day. Drains are measured and emptied twice daily. Drains are removed 1-2 weeks after surgery.
No lifting, pushing, or pulling for 4-6 weeks. Avoid getting hot and sweaty. Back to work in 2 weeks, full activity in 4-6 weeks.
Results are immediate. As swelling resolves, size and shape are more evident. Incision lines fade.
